16,614 Candidates Sit for TRCN’s Professional Qualifying Exams

A total of 16,614 candidates participated in the Batch ‘B’ Professional Qualifying Examination conducted nationwide by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

The Acting Registrar of TRCN, Stella Nwokeocha, disclosed this during her inspection of one of the examination centers in Abuja on Saturday. She described the process as smooth and incident-free across the country.

Ms. Nwokeocha reiterated the council’s zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice, warning that offenders would face disqualification. She also called on the government to reconsider its policy of non-funding TRCN operations and urged financial support, particularly for staff salaries.

Speaking on behalf of the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Nasiru Sani-Gwarzo, the ministry’s Director of ICT, Abubakar Isah, commended TRCN for the seamless execution of the examination.

Jacinta Ezeahurukwe, TRCN’s Director of Certification and Licensing, highlighted the council’s efforts to enhance the examination process. She revealed the deployment of an app designed to detect impersonation during accreditation and noted that TRCN is transitioning to a fully online registration system.

“In the past, candidate numbers were manually assigned, but the process is now automated, with computers generating the numbers,” Ms. Ezeahurukwe explained, emphasizing TRCN’s commitment to continuous technological improvements in its operations.
