The Osun State Government has approved ₦75,000 as the new minimum wage for civil servants, according to the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
This was announced on Tuesday in a statement signed by the NLC Chairman in Osun State, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, and shared with journalists in Osogbo.
The statement read, The Organized Labour in Osun State and the Government, after exhaustive deliberations, have agreed on ₦75,000 as the new minimum wage in Osun State.”
Although the state government has not officially released a statement on the development, the announcement by the NLC chairman has sparked celebrations among workers in the state.
This move aligns with the new Minimum Wage Bill signed into law by President Bola Tinubu in May 2024, following extensive negotiations with organized labour groups across the country.
