Federal Govt Vows to Implement Harmonized Salary for Civil Servants

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to resolving all issues related to the harmonization of civil servants’ salaries.

Didi Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), disclosed this on Monday during a press conference in Abuja to mark her achievements in her first 100 days in office.

Highlighting equitable salaries as one of President Bola Tinubu’s key priorities, Walson-Jack assured stakeholders that efforts are underway to address salary disparities.

“The issue of salary harmonization has been ongoing for some time. Upon assuming office, I made it a priority to assess the situation. I am aware that the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC) is actively working on it. Additionally, as a member of the Presidential Committee on Salaries, I can confirm that significant progress is being made to address all salary-related concerns,” she stated.

Civil Service Reforms

Addressing civil service reforms, the HOCSF emphasized her commitment to building on the foundations laid by her predecessor to transform Nigeria’s civil service into a world-class institution.

“The first 100 days in office represent a significant milestone, providing an opportunity to reflect on achievements, evaluate progress, and set clear goals for the future. It is also a moment to acknowledge challenges and reaffirm our collective determination to overcome them,” she said.

Walson-Jack also highlighted her dedication to implementing the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP 25), aimed at modernizing the sector.

Welfare Initiatives

As part of her welfare agenda, she announced a collaboration with the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation to establish a system that enhances civil servants’ access to affordable credit facilities.

“This initiative is designed to improve the welfare of civil servants by making consumer credit more accessible and affordable,” she explained.

Walson-Jack expressed gratitude to civil servants for their dedication and the media for its role in supporting the ongoing transformation efforts. She reiterated her office’s commitment to fostering partnerships that drive progress in the civil service.

Her tenure began on August 14, and her achievements in her first 100 days reflect a focus on reforms, welfare improvements, and equitable compensation for civil servants.
