Buhari Expresses Regret Over Some Of His Presidential Decisions

Femi Adesina, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, revealed on Wednesday that the ex-President had regrets about certain decisions made during his tenure and believed he could have handled some matters differently.

Speaking at the ‘Media Dialogue with Femi Adesina’ event in Osogbo, Adesina emphasized that such feelings of regret are normal for any human being.

During the event, Adesina shared insights into a two-hour conversation he had with Buhari before his departure from office. He mentioned that he posed a wide range of questions to the former President, including ones related to his regrets.

Adesina also defended Buhari’s controversial naira redesign policy, asserting that it was implemented with the nation’s best interests in mind. He recalled that during that period, incidents of kidnapping were notably lower, attributing this to the scarcity of physical currency.

Adesina highlighted that this shortage also contributed to a cleaner electoral process, as fewer governors successfully transitioned to the Senate due to reduced financial resources available for campaigns. While acknowledging that the policy had its challenges, he argued that it had positive aspects as well.
