The Federal Government has called for an urgent meeting in a bid to prevent the impending nationwide strike scheduled for October 3. This emergency meeting will convene with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
The meeting is now set to take place later this evening at the Aso Villa, specifically in the Conference Room of the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
Initially, the government had arranged for the meeting to occur at 12 noon today, but it was rescheduled to the evening to allow Organised Labour to coordinate with their leaders who are located outside of Abuja.
Sources indicate that both the NLC and the TUC received the government’s invitation this morning through the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
