The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has introduced a Beneficiary Identity Management Service (BIMS) to streamline and enhance the identification and management of students and lecturers in educational institutions nationwide.
According to Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, speaking at an educational summit in Abuja, this platform combines world-class educational resources to reshape the nation’s higher education landscape.
BIMS serves as the gateway for accreditation and authorization to access the Tertiary Education Research Applications and Services (TERAS) platform, offering numerous benefits to educators, students, and the entire educational community. Some of these advantages include streamlined enrollment and identification processes, enhanced data security and accuracy, personalized learning experiences, access to tailored educational services, and improved communication between students and educational institutions.
Meanwhile, Arc. Sonny Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, shed light on the historical significance of the TERAS platform, born out of challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. TERAS, meticulously designed to integrate essential components, places BIMS at its core.

Step 1: Contact Your Institution’s ICT Director
To initiate the activation of your BIMS ID, reach out to the Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at your educational institution. This is the first crucial step to join the BIMS system, and the ICT Director will provide the necessary guidance.
Step 2: Receive Your BIMS ID, Email, and Password Details
After your institution onboards you into the BIMS system, you will receive an email containing your BIMS ID, email address, and password details. Safeguard these credentials as they grant you access to TETFund’s services.
Step 3: Visit BIMS.tetfund.gov.ng
With your login details, visit the BIMS website at Bims.tetfund.gov.ng. Here, you will input your BIMS ID and password to access your account. Ensure that your email address is verified during this step to ensure accurate contact information.
Step 4: Update Your Profile
To maximize your use of the BIMS system, provide accurate details in your profile, including your address and phone number. This information is vital for receiving notifications and ensuring a seamless experience within the BIMS ecosystem.
Step 5: Change Your Password
