Security agencies are engaged in a fervent search following the abduction of the council chairman in Nasarawa State on New Year’s Day by bandits. The incident has prompted an intensive effort to locate and rescue the prominent figure.

Amid the ongoing New Year celebrations, a shocking event unfolded as gunmen forcibly abducted Mr. Safiyanu Andaha, the council chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, along with Alhaji Adamu Custom. The brazen act took place at approximately 8:30 pm, disrupting the festivities and leaving the victims in the hands of the assailants.

The daring assailants struck during the celebratory moments, creating chaos and apprehension within the community. The council chairman and Alhaji Adamu Custom were forcefully taken captive, adding a somber note to what should have been a joyous occasion for Nasarawa State.

Confirming the severity of the situation, Mr. Haruna Kassimu, the Special Adviser to the Nasarawa State Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, expressed concern over the incident. Despite the swift response from security agencies, the gunmen managed to elude capture, leaving the whereabouts of the abducted council chairman unknown. Efforts led by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the State Police Public Relations Officer, are underway to track down the kidnappers and ensure the safe release of the victims, reflecting a collaborative commitment to restore security and stability in the region.
