In a recent development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a new appointment, bringing Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo to the forefront as the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).
The appointment of Dr. Egbuwalo follows the suspension of Halima Shehu, the former head of NSIPA, by President Tinubu. This decision comes in the wake of allegations surrounding corruption and financial malfeasance against Shehu.
Halima Shehu, who took on the role in October 2023, had her appointment confirmed by the Senate on October 18, 2023. However, due to the serious nature of the allegations, President Tinubu deemed it necessary to make a change in leadership.
Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo, previously serving as the National N-Power Programme manager, steps into the role on an acting basis. His appointment will continue until the investigation into the allegations against Halima Shehu is concluded, signaling President Tinubu’s commitment to accountability and transparency in leadership.
