Abdulmalik Zubairu, a member of the House of Representatives from the APC in Zamfara, has extended scholarships to 118 students enrolled at the Federal College of Education, Technical, Gusau. The announcement was made through a statement issued by Mallam Aminu Lawal, the Technical Assistant on Strategy, Media, and Communications in the lawmaker’s office, on Friday in Gusau.
Mr. Lawal emphasized that this initiative is a part of the lawmaker’s education intervention program. The scholarship program specifically targets orphans and less-privileged students, facilitating their pursuit of further education.
The beneficiaries, including both male and female students from Maru and Bungudu local government areas, are expected to benefit from the scheme. The timing of this gesture is crucial, given the prevailing economic challenges. The primary objective is to aid less privileged students in covering their registration fees, thereby contributing to the reduction of youth illiteracy and the promotion of education, especially for the girl child.
The statement highlighted that the scope of the scholarship extends beyond the Federal College of Education, Technical, Gusau. The lawmaker has sponsored hundreds of students in various universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education within and outside the state. Specifically, 253 undergraduates from the Federal University, Gusau, 40 students from Bayero University, Kano, and 80 students from Zamfara College of Education, Maru, have been beneficiaries of this program.
In a recent development, Abdulmalik Zubairu also awarded scholarships to 70 undergraduates at Iheris University in Togo, further illustrating his commitment to supporting education.
Mr. Lawal urged the students who have received scholarships from the lawmaker to make the most of this opportunity and ensure the successful completion of their studies.
