Two prominent Nigerian Islamic clerics have passed away within a span of 24 hours, leading to a somber atmosphere in the country’s Muslim community.
The first, Sheikh Abdulfatai Muhali Alaga, fondly known as Alfa Agba of Ibadanland, succumbed to illness at the age of 80, with his funeral held on Tuesday in accordance with Islamic traditions.
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde extended condolences, highlighting Alaga’s contribution to religious harmony in the state.
The second loss is Shaykh Abdul-Afis Aṣamu Abou, also known as Baba Adinni, a revered figure who served as the chairman of the Executive Council of Lagos Central Mosque and recently played a pivotal role in reclaiming mosque land at Dodan Barracks.
Baba Adinni, aged 101, will be laid to rest today at 2 pm at the Lagos Central Mosque.
