Despite the critical situation and widespread poverty afflicting the people of this country, resulting from the policies implemented by President Bola Ahmad Tinubu since he took office, our representatives have failed to address the urgent needs of the population. Instead of offering constructive suggestions to alleviate the pain and suffering of the citizens, they have chosen to praise the President for his actions. This praise indicates their satisfaction with the dire circumstances created by the APC government.
Their approval of the President’s policies aligns with sentiments expressed by the former governor of Zamfara, Abdulaziz Yari, he has commended President Bola Tinubu’s APC-led government has done appreciably well in its first year.
Speaking in Sokoto over the weekend, Yari praised Tinubu’s administration for starting on a positive note despite facing significant challenges. He made these remarks during the inauguration of the distribution of 46 buses and 10 other vehicles purchased by the Sokoto state government to enhance public transportation at the local government level. He emphasized that while it is still early to fully assess the administration’s performance, the initial achievements are noteworthy.
“Although it’s too early to rate its performance considering the challenges faced by the administration from the start, I remain optimistic. The president will likely focus on consolidating results in his second year, aiming for the stability and prosperity of the country,” Yari said.
He also mentioned that he does not believe in celebrating the first 100 days in office, arguing that what matters is a government’s ability to manage pressure, meet high expectations, and address seemingly insurmountable challenges to achieve positive outcomes.
Additionally, Yari, who holds the traditional title of ‘Shettiman Mafara,’ acknowledged the efforts of Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto in implementing policies that directly benefit the people of Sokoto State. He praised the governor’s initiatives and emphasized the importance of leaders replicating such performance to ensure lasting legacies.
“The governor is doing appreciably well, and these are legacies that will reflect positively on his tenure. Leaders in governance should always strive for excellent performance to avoid bringing shame upon themselves,” Yari concluded.
