Akpabio Announces Over 30,000 Student Selected to Benefit from FG’s Loan Scheme

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President of Nigeria, has announced that over 30,000 Nigerian students have been selected to benefit from the new student loan scheme introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In a statement on Tuesday, Akpabio highlighted this development during his visit to the Nigeria Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies in Abuja. He underscored the significance of the Student Loan Bill, which was recently passed by the tenth Assembly of the country.

“One of the most important bills for the tenth Assembly was the bill sent to us by President Bola Tinubu. The Student Loan Bill enables vulnerable Nigerian students, the less privileged, to obtain higher education,” Akpabio stated.

He further elaborated on the impact of the bill, expressing his personal support for the legislation. “And as I speak to you now, over 30,000 Nigerian students have already been selected to benefit from that scheme. That is one of the bills I will say appeal to me the most,” Akpabio said.

The introduction of this student loan scheme marks a significant step towards increasing access to higher education for disadvantaged students in Nigeria, reflecting the government’s commitment to educational advancement and social equity.
