The Federal Government and the Sokoto State Government have announced a partnership to intensify efforts against insecurity in the region.
State Deputy Governor, Idris Gobir, revealed this initiative during an address at Sabon Fegi in Sabon Birni town on Tuesday. Gobir outlined the plan to establish a military camp in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area as a measure to curb insecurity.
“A military camp will be established in one of the three towns experiencing frequent banditry attacks: Burkusuma, Dama, and Magira,” Gobir stated. He added that consultations are at an advanced stage and emphasized that this move aims to reduce bandit attacks in the area.
Gobir urged the people of the Sokoto East Senatorial District to disregard rumors and misinformation regarding security issues, labeling such actions as unpatriotic. He reiterated the Ahmad Aliyu-led administration’s commitment to combating banditry and called on residents to remain patriotic, united, and vigilant.
In a statement signed by the Director of Press in the Deputy Governor’s Office, Garba Idris, it was announced that the contractor responsible for constructing the Tsululu Road in Sabon Birni would soon resume work. Gobir commended the community for their continued support of the government.
Alhaji Garba Kaba, Sole Administrator of Sabon Birni Local Government Area, and Alhaji Isah Mohammed, Sole Administrator of Isa Local Government, reported significant progress in the fight against banditry. They noted that these efforts have led to a reduction in banditry attacks and called for sustained efforts, praising the state government’s and the deputy governor’s personal contributions to addressing the issue.
