In a bid to address the prolonged absence of rainfall, the Emir of Katsina, Abdulmumini Usman, on Tuesday led residents in a rain-seeking prayer session. This event, held at the Eid Prayer Ground Mosque at approximately 8:00 am, saw a large turnout and was led by the Chief Imam of the Katsina Central Mosque, Imam Gambo Mustapha.
During the prayers, participants were urged to intensify their supplications, aiming for a bountiful harvest that would alleviate economic hardships, lower food prices, and address the state’s ongoing insecurity issues. Abdurrahman Bature, one of the attendees, emphasized the critical need for rainfall to support crop plantations, especially in light of the soaring food prices.
Bature also called on residents to live piously and urged leaders to act with sincerity towards their subjects. He highlighted that the persistent insecurity, including the unnecessary killings of innocent citizens, could be contributing to the lack of rainfall, alongside other negative behaviors.
This spiritual intervention occurs amid a nationwide struggle with the rising cost of living and food inflation reaching up to 40%. The residents’ collective prayers reflect their hope for divine intervention to bring relief and stability to their community.
