Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has assured that the state’s civil service will not succumb to the inefficiencies plaguing many other civil service systems across Nigeria. Speaking on Monday in Jalingo, the state capital, during the opening of a five-day professional workshop for Directors of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), Kefas emphasized his commitment to revitalizing the civil service for optimal performance.
The governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Jeji Williams, acknowledged the significant challenges that have weakened the civil service over time. “The civil service has faced numerous challenges, leading to a decline in its structure and administration. However, our government is determined to reposition it for maximum productivity,” Kefas stated.
He highlighted that the workshop is part of ongoing efforts to equip civil servants with global best practices, urging participants to fully engage with the knowledge provided. Kefas also directed the lead consultant to incorporate practical problem-solving exercises into the training modules.
The Head of Civil Service for Taraba State, Paul Tino, thanked the governor for the timely release of funds for the training and encouraged participants to embrace the government’s initiative to establish an efficient, productive, and incorruptible civil service culture.
Prof. Francis Friday from the Department of Public Administration, Lagos State University, Ojo, who led the training, emphasized that the program aims to strengthen the state’s workforce. He noted that participants would be trained on leadership skills, proper codes of conduct, and other essential topics.
