The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the death of Abba Bala Burakita, a notorious gang leader, following a violent altercation with rival groups in the Dorayi area of Kano.
Burakita, a figure feared for his involvement in local gang activities, sustained critical injuries during the clash. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at Murtala Hospital.
According to a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, police intervened in the ongoing gang fight in Dorayi, an area long troubled by Burakita’s criminal activities. He was apprehended on suspicion of armed robbery and for leading a gang that had terrorized the local community for years.
Burakita’s death marks the end of a criminal career that had caused significant unrest in the Dorayi neighborhood. His gang’s activities had repeatedly disrupted the peace, leading to numerous complaints from residents and calls for stronger law enforcement.
In response to the persistent violence in Dorayi, the Kano State Government recently approved the construction of a new police station in the area. The new facility is expected to enhance police presence and improve response times, aiming to restore peace and security to the community.
SP Kiyawa reaffirmed the police force’s commitment to maintaining law and order in Kano, particularly in areas plagued by gang violence.
