In celebration of Katsina State’s 37th anniversary, the state government has recognized 14 outstanding civil servants with awards of excellence, rewarding their dedication with cars and cash prizes.
Katsina State, created on September 23, 1987, under the leadership of then Military Head of State General Ibrahim Babangida (retired), honored its top-performing civil servants during a ceremony marking its creation.
Four of the awardees were presented with cars, including Lawal Halilu from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary School Education, Abubakar Lawal from the State Audit, Bishir Aliyu, a messenger in the Secretary to the State Government’s Office, and Farida Nuraddeen, a primary school teacher from Bakori Local Government Area.
Eight other exemplary civil servants were rewarded with cash prizes of N2 million each. Among them were Nura Idris from the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Nura Isiyaku of the Teachers Service Board, Mansur Suleiman from KTARDA, and Shemau Kabir of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency. Additional recipients included Abdullahi Yusuf, Abdullahi Muhammad, Muawiyya Musa, Isuhu Ahmed, a watchman from Safana LGA, and Sada Rabe, a messenger from Mai’aduwa LGA.
At the event, Governor Dikko Radda reflected on Katsina’s journey since its creation, sharing a personal anecdote from when he was an 18-year-old student at the College of Education, Kafanchan, Kaduna State, at the time of the state’s inception. “Today, by Allah’s will, I stand before you as your elected governor. We will not disappoint you. We will continue to fulfill our duties with integrity and dedication,” Radda stated.
He also expressed gratitude for the state’s past leaders, recognizing their contributions to Katsina’s development. Emphasizing the long-term vision of his administration, Radda mentioned that he was not only focused on immediate capital projects but also on initiatives that would benefit the people over the next 30 to 50 years. He urged residents to continue supporting his government to further deliver the dividends of democracy.
Bishir Aliyu, a messenger in the SSG’s Office with 33 years of service, expressed his appreciation to the governor for the recognition and encouraged his colleagues to remain committed to their responsibilities.
