Insecurity: Zamfara Gov, Other Northwest Govs Meet Tinubu, Seek FG’s Intervention

The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal alongside other Northwest Governors on Thursday met behind closed doors with President Tinubu.

The meeting held at the Presidential Villa was a sideline event between the President and the Seven (7) Governors of the Northwest.

A statement by the Spokesperson of the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said the Governors met with the President to discuss the lingering security challenges affecting the region.

The Governors were in Villa for the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting chaired by Vice President, Kashim Shettima.

“Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, alongside other Northwestern Governors had a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu.

“The meeting is part of the efforts by the Governors to seek presidential intervention in addressing the menace of banditry and kidnapping in the Northwest region.

“The Governors briefed the president on their major concerns about intractable security problems in their respective States.

“Before meeting with the President, the Seven (7) Northwestern Governors were in attendance of the NEC meeting which was attended by the 36 State Governors.”
