Zamfara state Police Command complies with the order of the Federal High Court, Gusau by handing over the vehicles it impounded from the residences of former Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle, to the court.
Recall that, the Court has on Thursday directed the officers of the security agencies involved in the raid of Matawalle’s residences in Gusau and Maradun to within 48 hours produce a comprehensive inventory of all vehicles and personal property of the former governor and his family members taken away.
Matawalle brought the motion against the police, the Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State; State Security Service (SSS), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and Attorney General of the Federation.
The court ordered them to produce and domicile the property within the premises of the court, “and under the control of the Deputy Chief Registrar, Federal High Court, Gusau Judicial Division, pending determination of the applicant’s substantive originating motion in this matter.”
But in a press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yazid Abubakar said those who felt that their vehicles were wrongfully impounded were advised to produce proof of ownership to claim such vehicles.
Abubakar said, “Persons who feel their vehicles were wrongfully taken while executing search warrants during the course of this investigation are advised to produce proof of ownership to claim such vehicles”.
Now all the impounded properties has already been brought back to the court, waiting for the next action that the court will take on this matter.
