HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR OF ZAMFARA STATE BELLO MATAWALLE APOLOGISES OVER A MISUNDERSTANDING WITH SOME FARMERS IN MARADUN LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF THE STATE.
In a recent happening in Maradun local government where correspondent Khalifa Ja’afar reported to Bell media that a misunderstanding between the government and the farmers arose over a land where the government promised the farmers would engage in cotton plantation this year ,the initiative was meant to revive the cultivation of Cotton in the entire state.
The land was used by the farmers who engaged in crops plantation such as maize and millet, which unfortunately their farms were being destroyed and they cried out to the government for interventions as according to them the government promised them the piece of land for the cultivation.
In a press release by the government house this afternoon the Governor is saddened and is sincerely apologetic for the happening and the miscommunication as the government commissioned the land, and ideally Cotton was to be cultivated, but despite that the Governor said no explanation would be enough to show his deepest sympathy for the farmers as they have not only invested their resources money there, they invested their time and physical strength to produce crops for their survival, he said currently the Government are coming up with strategies on how to meet with the farmers who have lost their crops for further resolution meanwhile for the other farmers whose crops weren’t destroyed they should continue their cultivation process and he wishes them the best of luck
The Cotton plantation initiative was set up by His excellency to revive the Cotton Cultivation in the State by restoring the cotton cultivation once done in the 1900’s which would help boast the GDP of the state and the nation at large.
The Governor is deeply sorry and apologises to the general public and promise to help and support more farmers who are willing to pick up their tools and return to farming, as it is known the slogan of the state is “Farming Is Our Pride”.
