A Nigerian army detachment labeled “Operation Hadarin Daji” killed an unknown number of terrorists and dislodged their camps in the forests of Gando-Kairu, Bukuyum Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State, in northwestern Nigeria.
The fighters engaged the terrorist group allegedly loyal to Shadari Kachalla, a well-known terrorist leader, from Friday April 8 to Monday April 11.
Members of Operation Hadarin Daji had been responding to a terrorist attack on the nearby communities of Bukuyum and Danko/Wasagu LGA of Zamfara and Kebbi States, North West Nigeria.
A resident of one of the affected areas, Alhaji Sani Jankuro, told HumAngle “the operation led to the killing of dozens of terrorists in the forest area, which also led to the recovery of more than a hundred motorcycles owned by the gangs in the forests of Gando-Kaiwa.
Another eyewitness, Muhammad Hamisu, saw hundreds of motorcycles confiscated by the Nigerian army.
“In fact, tonight we saw some terrorists on the run without weapons. They were running for their lives,” Hamisu said.
Meanwhile, the members encountered another attack on the village of Takalafiya carried out by another terrorist group on Sunday, April 10 at around 8:45 p.m. (WAT).
The gang attacked the village as locals watched their Isha’i prayer at the mosque.
Bashar Ibrahim Kairu, a local, said “three innocent people were killed while six others were abducted in the attack”.
Among those killed in the attack are Yakubu Adamu, Imrana Muhammad and Ismail Kabiru, all from Takalafiya village. While Kabiru Maigero, Ayuba Adamu Dan-Inna, Hashimu Haruna, Umar Sahabi and two others were taken away.
