Barr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa state, has been removed from office by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC after he improperly declared Aisha Dahiru Binani, an APC candidate for governor, as the winner of the weekend’s rerun election.
As a result, the REC has been told to avoid the commission’s office in Yola, Adamawa state.
INEC has consequently instructed its Administrative Secretary in the state to assume care of its business in a letter dated April 17, 2023 and signed by its Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony.
I hereby express the Commission’s determination that you (Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari), Resident Electoral Commissioner, Adamawa State, should immediately cease visiting the Commission’s office in Adamawa State till further notice, according to a portion of the letter.
It has been ordered that the Administrative Secretary assume complete control of INEC, Adamawa State, immediately.
