Leaked Audio: Group Attacks Yari Over Alleged Bribery Of Tribunal Judges

Zamfara Alternative Forum (ZAF), a socio-political organization, has demanded a thorough investigation into claims that former governor Abdulaziz Yari attempted to bribe judges overseeing the State’s election tribunal.

In a leaked audio, Anas Sani Anka, a loyalist of Senator Abdulaziz Yari and owner of Thunder Blowers online TV, was heard boasting about using money to sway the judgment of the Zamfara election tribunal.

Sani Mamuda Gummi, the Secretary of Zamfara Alternative Forum, issued a statement on Monday in Gusau, urging relevant authorities to promptly address the matter. He emphasized that the leaked audio exposed concerning tactics employed by the Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Gummi stated, “The leaked audio, which surfaced over the weekend, revealed Anas Sani Anka’s narration of plans to bribe judges overseeing the Zamfara State election tribunal. Anka claimed that Senator Abdulaziz Yari provided him with 100 million Naira to distribute to 17 House of Assembly members as a bribe, with the intention of impeaching the Speaker of the Zamfara State House of Assembly.”

He further noted, “The leaked audio also detailed how Senator Abdulaziz Yari allegedly bribed judges associated with the election tribunal to ensure favorable judgments for the APC.”

“The Zamfara Alternative Forum, as a respected socio-political group of elders, is deeply concerned by these allegations, which undermine the integrity of the judiciary and democratic processes. We urgently call upon the National Judiciary Institute (NJI) and the National Judicial Council (NJC) to investigate this matter.”

“We also urge the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to address the behavior of Anas Anka and Thunder Blowers, as their actions contradict the principles of journalism, as confirmed by Anas Sani Anka’s statements in the leaked audio.”

“Furthermore, we appeal to the Department of State Services (DSS) to intervene by summoning Anas Sani Anka for questioning. Such statements could potentially lead to a breach of law and order.”

“The former governor of Zamfara, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, is urged to provide a clear response within 24 hours, addressing the alleged bribery scandal.”
