Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has appointed Hussaini Abubakar-Giro as a member of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Board. This appointment comes as a replacement for his late father, Sheik Abubakar Giro, who passed away on Wednesday.
The national leadership of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS) had previously appealed to the governor to consider one of the late Sheik’s sons for the position originally intended for their father, a request that the governor graciously accepted.
In a statement released by Alhaji Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Governor Idris made this announcement during a condolence visit by the executive members of JIBWIS, led by the National Chairman, Sheik Abdullahi Bala-Lau, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
Governor Idris assured the Islamic sect that their request had been duly honored, expressing gratitude for their visit and emphasizing that Sheik Abubakar Giro’s passing was a loss not just to his family but to the entire community.
He further eulogized the late Sheik as a person of exceptional integrity, humility, patience, and tolerance, always prioritizing the welfare of others over his own interests.
Earlier, the JIBWIS National Chairman had mourned the late Sheik’s demise, characterizing it as a loss not only to Kebbi State but to Nigeria, Africa, and the global Muslim community. He prayed that Allah would forgive his shortcomings, accept his righteous deeds, and grant him a place in Jannatul Firdaus.
