Professor Nasir Garba Anka, the Executive Chairman of the Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), has announced plans to collaborate with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to advance basic education in the state.
The professor made this commitment during a visit by the Civil Society Organizations for Safe School Technical Team to his office in Gusau. He emphasized that “education for all is the responsibility of all,” highlighting the critical role that Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) play in supporting the education sector, particularly for the benefit of young and future generations.
In a statement issued to The Spectacles by the public relations officer ZSUBEB, Ibrahim Musa Maizare, said Prof. Anka underscored the administration’s dedication to prioritizing education, evident in Governor Dauda Lawali’s declaration of a State of Emergency on Education, alongside security concerns. He pledged the board’s continuous collaboration with the CSOs and assured them of all necessary support to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
In response, Dr. Ahmad Hashim Tsanu, represented by Hajiya Sa’adatu Abdul Gusau, commended Prof. Anka’s leadership and expressed the CSOs’ commitment to partnering with the government for educational advancement. He clarified that the CSOs’ aim is not to oppose the government but to identify and address challenges through relevant agencies for appropriate action.
Dr. Hashim highlighted ongoing efforts, including investigations into school closures due to insecurity, with a report submitted to the government for action. He expressed optimism that the current administration would address insecurity to foster educational excellence in the state.
In conclusion, Dr. Hashim congratulated Prof. Anka on his appointment and urged him to leverage his expertise to elevate basic education in Zamfara State. The CSOs also presented a report to the ZSUBEB chairman, further emphasizing their commitment to improving the education sector in the state.
