“Buhari Now Lives With Regrets As His Govt Faces Severe Failures” – Ex Minister

Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Solomon Dalung, recently expressed his views on the administration of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari. According to Dalung, Buhari now harbors regrets regarding his administration’s handling of the country’s challenges.

Speaking on Trust Radio, Dalung asserted that the Buhari administration fell short of fulfilling the promises made during the 2015 campaign. He also alleged that the President’s associates had tarnished his reputation.

Dalung stated, “We failed to meet our expectations. I am not being hypocritical, having been a significant participant in the 2015 campaign, tirelessly traveling throughout the country.

None of the promises we made were fulfilled. Our political commitment to Nigerians during the campaign was to address security concerns, revitalize the economy, and combat corruption vigorously.”

In hindsight, Dalung admitted that they fell far short of these goals. He praised Buhari’s honesty and trust in those around him, but he believes the President now regrets that trust. Dalung lamented that Buhari’s name and integrity have been sullied, with his reputation diminished.

Dalung also commented on the performance of the APC administration during 2015 and 2019, acknowledging modest progress. However, he highlighted the worsening security situation as a notable failure.

He remarked, “Banditry and terrorism, while reduced in terms of attacks, have taken on new and more complex dimensions, surpassing any previous security challenges in the country’s history.

This represents a significant setback and an indictment on the APC, as these issues were not part of their democratic promises to Nigerians.”
