Rarara: From Musician To Political Provocateur – The Complex Journey, Consequences

In the words of Professor Abdallah Uba Adam (AUA), “Rarara sells himself to the highest bidder, driven solely by personal gain, without any genuine conscience or ideology.” This statement by Prof. AUA carries profound insights into the character and motivations of Rarara.

Rarara, originally a musician from humble origins within a modest family, found himself in a peculiar position within the realm of Nigerian politics. His rise to notoriety was propelled by his willingness to openly criticize members of the opposition party. This talent for political invective was quickly seized upon by politicians who recognized an opportunity to employ him as a tool for attacking their adversaries.

In the present day, it is evident that those who elevated Rarara to this status are now reaping the consequences of their actions. Rarara has evolved into a prominent figure in the political landscape, leveraging the opportunities provided to him. His vocal criticisms, particularly regarding former President Buhari and accusations of his policies negatively impacting Nigeria, have generated mixed reactions. Some perceive Rarara as a betrayer, but it’s important to note that the perception of President Buhari as a betrayer is not unique to Rarara; there is a broader context of discontent with his leadership.

Rarara’s journey has come full circle. He initially gained notoriety by insulting political leaders who manipulated him into doing so. Now, he has returned to them, seemingly aligning himself once again with those who initially exploited his talents.

A recent episode in Kano state highlighted the volatile nature of Rarara’s interactions with the public. He faced backlash for insulting elders in the state, leading to his expulsion from Kano. In a twist of events, the government of Katsina state welcomed him with open arms and provided him with accommodations. However, he has not refrained from continuing his provocative rhetoric, even towards the elders of Katsina state.

The ongoing saga of Rarara underscores the complexity of the intersection between politics, opportunism, and the consequences of one’s actions. It remains to be seen where his path will lead next and how his presence in the political discourse will continue to evolve.
