Zamfara Man Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Killing Friend Over ₦100

A Zamfara State High Court has sentenced Anas Dahiru of Unguwar Dallatu, Gusau, to death by hanging for the killing of his friend, Shamsu Ibrahim.

The incident, which occurred in 2017, stemmed from a dispute over ₦100. The court, presided over by Justice Mukhtar Yusha’u, found Anas guilty of the crime after careful consideration of both sides.

In a separate case, Sadiqu Abubakar faced judgment of life imprisonment for attempted armed robbery in Bungudu Local Government Area.

He was convicted for attacking a businessman in Runji village and was apprehended by the courageous victim, who turned him over to the police.

Barrister Mansur Lawal, the Assistant Director of Public Prosecution in the Zamfara State Ministry of Justice, expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision.

Barrister Muhammad Ahmad Jamo, the Legal Aid Council Coordinator for Zamfara State, acknowledged the deterrent effect of the judgment but indicated they would explore the possibility of appealing the case.
