A Kano State Sharia Court, under Khadi Yusuf-Ahmed, has directed Murja Kunya, a Tiktoker, to undergo a mental evaluation at a government hospital.
Kunya faces trial on charges including inciting public disturbance, affiliation with a criminal gang, and criminal intimidation.
In a viral TikTok video, she proclaimed herself as the “leader of all prostitutes in the city.”
During the ruling, Justice Yusuf-Ahmad cited concerns about her mental state, possibly influenced by drugs, prompting the evaluation.
Yusuf-Ahmad instructed the Hisbah Board to provide updates on her well-being for three months and set the next hearing for May 20th.
Previously, prosecutor Barrister Aliyu Abideen explained that Kunya was apprehended by the Kano State Hisbah Board following public complaints.
Abideen detailed Kunya’s alleged activities, including disturbing Tishama Hotoro Quarters Kano, bringing delinquents at midnight, and using social media to incite disturbance.
