Fed Govt Allocates $1.3bn for Kano to Niger Republic Rail Project

The Minister of Transportation, Said Alkali, announced a significant milestone in the funding of the Kano-Katsina-Jibiya-Maradi Railway Project, with $1.3bn secured for the ongoing initiative.

In a statement released by the minister’s Special Assistant, Public Affairs, Jamilu Ja’afar, this achievement is hailed as a crucial step towards enhancing the socio-economic ties between Nigeria and Niger Republic.

“The $1.3bn secured for the Kano-Katsina-Jibiya-Maradi Railway Project is a major accomplishment,” said Alkali.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Fidet Okhiria, and a senior director at the African Development Bank, Muhammad Abdulrazak, have both endorsed the project as a driver for positive change, fostering economic growth and regional cooperation.

A recent visit by Tang Zhigang, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation, and his delegation, has further bolstered optimism for the rail project’s potential to pave the way for future prosperity between the two nations.

“The Kano-Katsina-Jibiya-Maradi rail line reflects our shared history and ambition for economic advancement. It will establish a lasting legacy of wealth and opportunities for Nigeria and the Niger Republic,” Alkali emphasized.

The statement highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to realizing progress and unity as the project progresses. The Ministry of Transportation pledges to provide regular updates on this transformative venture, celebrating each milestone on the journey towards a brighter and more interconnected future.
