Fierce Bandit Clash in Zamfara Leaves at Least 30 Dead, Many Injured

A violent conflict erupted among rival bandit groups in Kawaye village, located in the Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of at least 30 individuals, with many others severely injured. The clash reportedly began over a dispute involving stolen cattle.

A resident of the area where the fight broke out, who requested to remain anonymous, told VOA Hausa that approximately 30 people lost their lives, and around 20 others were injured in the incident.

In another interview with VOA Hausa, former journalist and security expert Munir Sani provided insights into a violent incident, revealing that approximately twenty people from each side lost their lives, and more than thirty others sustained injuries. Sani reported that the bandits had stolen cattle from the Gumi Local Government Area in Zamfara and Shagari village in Sokoto Local Government Area, which triggered the conflict.

The violence has had severe repercussions on the local community, including innocent civilians who were engaged in gold purification activities near the site of the clash. Some of these individuals were caught in the crossfire, with several injured and others tragically losing their lives.
