Terror Group Lakurawa From Niger Republic Kills Four Soldiers in Sokoto

Four Nigerian soldiers were killed in an ambush by terrorists in the Bachaka Kurya Forest, Gudu Local Government Area, Sokoto State. The attack, carried out by the Niger Republic-based terror group Lakurawa, targeted troops of Operation Hadarin Daji near the Nigeria-Niger border.

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday in Abuja. According to the statement, the troops engaged the attackers in a fierce firefight, killing several of the terrorists and recovering weapons and ammunition.

“The bodies of the slain terrorists indicate that the attack was carried out by the Lakurawa group from Niger Republic. Unfortunately, four of our personnel lost their lives in the encounter,” the statement read.

The remaining members of the terror group reportedly fled back into Niger Republic, with Nigerian troops in pursuit to neutralize the fleeing terrorists.
