MTN Donates 4,600 Tablets to Nigerian Govt to Enhance Education

MTN Nigeria has donated 4,600 tablets to the Federal Government of Nigeria, marking a significant step toward improving the quality of education across the country. These tablets come pre-installed with the innovative uLesson app, a digital learning platform specifically designed to enhance educational outcomes for Nigerian students. The devices will be distributed to secondary schools across all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

This initiative, which is overseen by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Advisor, highlights the Nigerian government’s dedication to advancing education and digital literacy among the nation’s youth. Vice President Kashim Shettima has confirmed that his office will collaborate closely with MTN to develop criteria for beneficiaries and ensure the efficient distribution of the tablets.

The uLesson app, created by uLesson Education Limited, offers a comprehensive curriculum tailored to the Nigerian educational system, including video lessons, quizzes, and interactive exercises in subjects such as STEM, business, and the arts. The pre-loaded content is aligned with the national curriculum, enabling students to effectively supplement their classroom learning.

AyoOluwa Nihinlola, CEO of uLesson Education (K12), emphasized the company’s commitment to bridging the educational divide in Nigeria. “At uLesson, we believe that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of their geographical location or socio-economic status. This collaboration with the Federal Government and MTN is a significant step towards realizing that vision. By providing students with these digital tools, we are empowering the next generation with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.”

Ernest Ndukwe, Chairman of MTN Nigeria, expressed optimism that the donated devices will support the Federal Government’s goal of increasing digital literacy in secondary schools. He highlighted that the initiative would enhance creativity, analytical thinking, and adaptability among students while providing them with up-to-date information in science and technology.

To further demonstrate MTN’s commitment to this cause, Ndukwe announced a one billion naira donation aimed at supporting Nigeria’s most vulnerable, marginalized, and underserved communities, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital revolution.
