Gunmen Invade el-Rufai Estate, Abduct Resident in Abuja

A group of armed individuals, suspected to be bandits, carried out an invasion of El-Rufai Estate located in the Kuchiko Resettlement Development Area (KRDA) within the Bwari region of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This incident occurred on a Saturday when they forcibly abducted a resident identified as Chinedu.

Reports indicate that the criminals executed their operation during the early hours of Saturday, instilling fear in the community. Mai Baba Bego, Chairman of the Kuchiko Resettlement Development Area, confirmed this unfortunate occurrence, highlighting that this incident marks the fifth kidnapping case within the area in recent months.

Expressing concerns about the prevailing sense of insecurity, Bego called for an immediate deployment of security personnel to safeguard the community and prevent further incidents.

According to the victim’s wife, the kidnappers forcibly entered their compound by breaking through the fence. In a terrifying display, they fired shots into the air, intimidating both family members and neighbors before abducting her husband.

Efforts to seek clarification on this matter from the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, have so far proven unsuccessful. Messages sent to her went unanswered, and calls to her phone remained unanswered at the time of filing this report.
