state primary healthcare development agency Dr. Rilwanu Muhammad acknowledged the effort of Alive and Thrive FHI360 in working towards achieving set goals in the area of maternal infant and young child nutrition, MIYCN to improve the living condition of mothers and babies in the state
He stated this at the policy domestication of MIYCN held at Jamil Hotel Azare, Katagum local government, area
Speaking on behalf of the executive chairman, the director disease control and immunization, Ibrahim Mahmood said the situation of nutrition in Bauchi state is not quite encouraging compared to states in the federation.
He said partners such as Alive and Thrive have been helping to improve the narratives by stepping down training for healthcare workers across the state.
He explained that the challenge faced in promoting maternal infant and young child nutrition in the state is the inability to use monitoring tools.
He hinted that the agency is working toward capturing the contribution of Alive and Thrive in the 2023 budget as well as the 2024 budget respectively
Director of Primary Healthcare and Community Health Service in Bauchi state, Sule Madugu who is part of the domestication process pointed out there are a lot of donor partners supporting the nutrition program in the state.
He said these partners are contributing immensely to improving nutrition, especially in infants.
On her part, the state technical officer gender equality unit Sabuwa Tahir said a lot of activities are carried out to improve nutrition in babies.
She explained that Alive and Thrive fhi360 since it came to support healthcare services in Bauchi state, has embarked on issues of training to enlarge the scope and understanding of the new concept of MICYN.
Also speaking to newsmen, the acting state nutrition Officer Abubakar Saleh Sabo Bara said the target is to achieve 50 percent exclusive breastfeeding throughout the state.
A total of 184 Health Personnel from 91 health facilities across six LGAs of the state were trained on issues related to Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MICYN)
