Bayero University, Kano State (BUK), has temporarily suspended its 2022/2023 first-semester undergraduate examinations and all academic activities until further notice, in response to the ongoing nationwide strike led by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and its affiliate bodies.
This decision, as stated by the acting Registrar, Mrs Amina Abdullahi, also aligns with the university unions’ participation in the walkout.
The university urges students to remain calm and await further instructions from the administration. The statement emphasizes that despite the exams being halfway through, they will resume once the strike concludes.
In related news, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has instructed its members to join the nationwide strike initiated by the NLC and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, effective from Monday midnight, according to a circular signed by ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke.
