Sadiya Umar-Farouq, the ex-Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, failed to honor an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) invitation probing the alleged ₦37.1bn laundering during her tenure.
Despite being scheduled for an interview on January 3, 2024, Umar-Farouq kept investigators waiting for over eight hours without official communication.
The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, declined comments, while journalists awaited the former minister’s arrival at the EFCC headquarters.
Umar-Farouq, previously denying knowledge of the implicated contractor, James Okwete, is now part of an ongoing investigation into the ministry’s financial irregularities.
