The Police Public Relations Officer of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, has advised couples to refrain from sharing details of their marriages on social media. In a post on her social media handle on Sunday, Adeh emphasized the need for couples to utilize social media platforms for promoting their businesses rather than showcasing personal relationships.
She stated, “All these married couples displaying their love on social media. I don’t want to hear complaints, please. Keep your happy homes off social media. Use the platforms to promote your businesses.”
Sources from the FCT Police Complaint Response Unit (PCRU) revealed that a significant number of complaints received over the past two months were from married individuals. According to a PCRU official, many couples in the FCT have been reaching out to the police to express concerns about their partners’ social media activities and how such actions negatively impact their marriages.
The PCRU officer commented, “I believe the PRO is genuinely concerned because the majority of the complaints we’ve received at the PCRU in the past two months have come from married individuals. Numerous couples in the FCT have contacted us to voice their grievances about the content posted by their partners on social media, and how it has sometimes had adverse effects on them.”
