Today marked the commencement of the public hearing led by the Tripartite Committee on the national minimum wage in the North Central region.
At 11:25 am on Thursday, stakeholders convened to address this crucial issue.
Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress, serves as the Chairman of the Tripartite Committee for the North Central Zone.
Key figures such as Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, and representatives from the governors of Niger and Kwara States, among others, were in attendance at the event in Abuja.
The establishment of the Committee, chaired by retired Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Bukar Aji, was initiated by President Bola Tinubu, in accordance with constitutional provisions and the National Minimum Wage Act 2019.
The Committee’s mandate includes consulting with stakeholders, assessing the national economy’s dynamics, and providing practical recommendations for the government on the National Minimum Wage.
