Matawalle Orders Agency to Pursue Individuals Advocating for Coup

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, has instructed the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) to track down those advocating for a coup in the country.

In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja by the Director of Information, Press, and Public Relations of the defence ministry, Mr Henshaw Ogubike, Matawalle condemned those calling for a coup as agents of darkness and warned that they would face severe consequences if apprehended.

“The idea of a violent overthrow of the government by the military is absurd and out of touch with reality. The military is committed to its constitutional duty of defending the Constitution and supporting democratic governance in Nigeria,” Matawalle stated.

He urged individuals to refrain from advocating for the overthrow of the government and instead embrace the democratic process.

Matawalle emphasized the professionalism of the military and its dedication to upholding the Constitution and democracy, urging all Nigerians to support the government’s efforts in nation-building.

He reiterated the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to defending the Constitution, safeguarding democracy, and ensuring national security.
