The Federal Government has assured the public that the school feeding programme, previously suspended, will soon return in a more robust and comprehensive form.
Unlike its previous iteration, which targeted select schools, the President has declared that it will now encompass the entirety of basic education.
Dr. Folake Olatunji, Director of Basic Education at the Ministry of Education, shared this update during the official launch and fundraising event of the Create that Change Development Initiative (CCDI) in Abuja.
She stated, “The National Home-grown School Feeding Programme, currently on hold, will be reintroduced with enhancements to ensure children receive adequate nutrition. Previously limited to certain primary schools, the President has expanded its scope to cover all of basic education.”
Mrs. Sharon Ayeni, the Founder of CCDI, outlined the organization’s vision to extend the Enhanced Nutrition, Exercise, and Reading Initiative (ENERI) nationwide.
CCDI aims to address various needs through initiatives such as the Build Her Initiative, focusing on empowering girls and young mothers with education, skills, and protection from societal challenges. Additionally, the Toilet Angels Initiative aims to improve hygiene in participating schools, while the Teacher to Teacher Mentoring Initiative seeks to empower educators to positively influence their students’ lives.
