Ogun Authorities Close Three Religious Centers Over Noise Disturbances

The Ogun State Government has taken decisive action against noise pollution by sealing three religious centres for violating laws and disregarding repeated warnings.

The sealed centres include Christ Apostolic Church, Fountain of Faith District Headquarters in Gbogunmi, Itedo Alafia Community, Bode Olude; Ambassador of Truth Assembly International on Olorunseye Avenue, Ijeun Titun; and Salvation Ministries on Kuforiji Olubi Drive, Adigbe GRA, all located in Abeokuta.

According to Farook Akintunde, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, the closure comes after numerous warnings and failed dialogues with the centres to mitigate noise pollution.

Christ Apostolic Church, Gbogunmi, was sealed due to holding loud vigils disturbing the peace of the community, despite complaints and petitions citing health concerns. The Ambassador of Truth Assembly was found guilty of loudspeaker misuse, while Salvation Ministries faced closure after confrontations with government officials during the sealing process.

Akintunde emphasized the government’s commitment to enforcing environmental regulations and warned other religious centres against noise pollution, affirming readiness to seal any found in violation.
