Femi Falana Questions Court’s Verdict on Sanusi’s Reinstatement as Emir

Lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana, has challenged the legal basis for nullifying Sanusi Lamido’s reinstatement as Emir.

Falana expressed confusion over the court’s decision, explaining that the repeal law cited by the court empowers the state governor to reinstate Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

He made these remarks during an interview with Arise TV, aired on Friday, June 21.

Falana said, “The court stated that the order made on May 24, which was served on the governor and the attorney general on May 27, was deemed to be known to them because it was reported on social media. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was not found to have disobeyed any order. Therefore, if the order affected them, they should have been notified.

However, the court also mentioned that it cannot declare invalid the repeal law made by the House of Assembly, which authorizes the governor to reinstate Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. This makes the ruling somewhat confusing.”
