Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has announced that Monday, July 8, 2024, will be a public holiday in honor of the 1446AH Islamic New Year. This announcement was detailed in a circular issued by the Ministry of Security and Home Affairs on Friday.
Governor Lawal’s statement encouraged the Muslim community to embody the virtues of moderation, piety, tolerance, respect, dignity, and patriotism during this significant time. He emphasized the importance of these values in fostering a harmonious and progressive society.
The governor also extended his heartfelt felicitations to Muslims in Zamfara State, across Nigeria, and around the world, wishing them a prosperous and blessed Islamic New Year.
The Islamic New Year, also known as Hijri New Year, marks the beginning of a new lunar Hijri year. It is a time of reflection and renewal for Muslims, as they commemorate the migration of the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Medina.
