EFCC Arrests Banker For Selling New Naira Notes To POS Agent

A banker identified as Soberechukwu Ewa has been apprehended by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for purportedly vending new naira notes to a Point of Sales (POS) cashier named Azubuike M. Obasi.

In a recent statement by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, it was disclosed that the arrests occurred at Ecobank, Rumuobiakani, and Maddox Nightclub in the new Government Reservation Area (GRA), Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The investigation unveiled that the banker specialized in distributing new naira notes to POS cashiers for commercial use, while Obasi was nabbed for his involvement in currency racketeering.

Obasi was found in possession of N554,600.00 (five hundred and fifty-four thousand, six hundred naira) at the time of his arrest. Both suspects are set to face legal charges in court.
