How Google Maps Leads NYSC Corp Member to Bandits’ Hideout in Sokoto

Former Member of Parliament and prominent activist, Senator Shehu Sani, has raised concerns over the escalating rates of kidnapping and armed robbery incidents across Nigeria.

Senator Sani highlighted a recent incident involving a young NYSC corp member who narrowly escaped from bandits in Sokoto state. According to Sani, the NYSC member revealed that their reliance on Google Maps during their journey inadvertently directed them into the territory of the bandits.

Taking to his Twitter page, Senator Sani shared the chilling account, stating: “A Youth Corper who managed to flee from bandits recounted how their use of Google Maps while traveling to Sokoto led them straight into the bandits’ domain.”

The revelation comes at a time when the northern region of Nigeria, particularly the Northwest, grapples with heightened security challenges, including frequent attacks orchestrated by bandits and armed assailants.
